B&B Porcigliano is a family-run bed and breakfast offering accommodation in a relaxing, friendly atmosphere.
The Bed&Breakfast is only 20 minutes driving distance from Florence along the old Faentina road between Florence and the green valley of Mugello, and is located just outside the village of Polcanto at 450 m altitude in a beautiful landscape surrounded by chestnut and oak woods offering a suggestive view on the valley.
In spring and summer times our country garden releases pleasant scents of lavender, rose, oregano, and sage, giving you the beautiful experience of a real tuscan country home. In our kitchen garden and fields organic seasonal vegetables, fruits and olive oil.
Porcigliano is an excellent location to visit Florence, explore the surrounding countryside, as well as the most interesting towns and cities of Tuscany.
An eco-friendly bed and breakfast
When our family bought the property in 1999, the house underwent a relevant restoration which included eco-building priciples, materials and techniques. Our goal was to offer an eco-friendly environment assuring a better quality of life in harmony with the surrounding territory. Conservative techniques have allowed us to bring the stones of the actual kitchen, which represent the oldest part of the house that was built on the ruins of a medieval tower, to their original shine.
- external walls are insulated with cork panels
- natural pigments paints were used to decorate walls, and slaked lime for plastering
- natural waxes and oils were used to treat the terracotta brick floors and all wooden parts
- solar panels generate hot water

Eco practices
We use
- biodegradable products for cleaning up, for the washing-machine and dishwasher
- A+ electrical appliances throughout the house
- to recycle all waste as much as we can
- to compost all garden and kitchen waste
- low energy consumption bulbs
- rain water from the lake to irrigate
Our delicious breakfast is served using local organic products, including home-made jam.
