Florence, nestled on the banks of the Arno river, surrounded by gentle hills, is one of the most visited cities in the world and has been declared a World Heritage Site by the Unesco.
Once enclosed and protected by its medieval walls, it was home to the most commercial and artistic movement of the time. Thanks to the patronage of the powerful Medici family, artists were able to fully express their art and realize those masterpieces that made the town famous and universally recognised cradle of the Renaissance. The historical city centre is characterised by a series of small alleys, ancient building, towers, and aristocratic residences with hide gardens described as “floral paradises” from which the name , the “Flower City”.

The Etruscan town of Fiesole, seats on a hilltop offering a breathtaking panoramic view over Florence. During the renaissance it was chosen as the country seat of wealthy Florentine families whereas later also attracted important, foreign families who moved there in the early 1800. The tiny village of Maiano next to Fiesole was famous for its queries of “serena” stone used for the construction of the most prestigious palaces in Florence.

Florence can be easily reached in 25 minutes by car, through either the ancient Faentina road or through the panoramic road to Fiesole, where you can easily park and continue your journey by city bus number 7. Otherwise from Porcigliano you reach the railway station of San Piero a Sieve, and take the train that goes directly into the city centre.
