Florence, nestled on the banks of the Arno river, surrounded by gentle hills, is one of the most worldwide renewed artistic town and has been declared a World Heritage Site by the Unesco.
Once enclosed and protected by its medieval walls, it was home to the most commercial and artistic movement of the time. Thanks to the patronage of the powerful Medici family, artists were able to fully express their art and realise those masterpieces that made the town famous worldwide.
The Etruscan town of Fiesole, seats on a hilltop offering a breathtaking panoramic view over Florence. During the renaissance it was chosen as the countryseat of wealthy Florentine families whereas later also attracted important, foreign families who moved there in the early 1800. The tiny village of Maiano next to Fiesole was famous for its queries of “serena” stone used for the construction of the most prestigious palaces in Florence.
The green and wide Mugello valley, a land rich in history and natural beauty, is characterized by small, medieval villages situated fairly close one to another along the flow of the Sieve river. This area lived in the shade and the breath of Florence for centuries. Often considered also the “Florentine farm” thanks to its agricultural vocation that still retains. Its generous organic, Controlled designation of origin (CDO) and Geographically Protected Indication (GPI) produce, testify this.
